Not all projects require planning permission. Many garage conversions and certain extensions fall under permitted development, however this depends on the size and scope of the work. At WMHI, we’ll guide you through the entire process and advise whether planning permission or building regulations approval is required for your project.
How long will my project take?
Every project is different, but typical timescales are:
Garage Conversion: 4 – 8 weeks
Single Storey Extension: 4 – 12 weeks
Double Storey Extension: 12 – 16 weeks
Full House Renovation: Depends on the size and complexity of the project

Do you work with architects?
Yes — we regularly work alongside architects and can also support you with drawings, planning applications, and structural designs as part of our design and build service.
What are your finance products?
We offer a range of flexible FCA-regulated finance options designed to help make your home improvement project more affordable and accessible, including:
Buy Now, Pay Later – Defer payments for up to 6 months interest free
0% Finance – Borrow up to £20,000 over 3 years with no interest
Interest Bearing Finance – Borrow up to £50,000 with repayment terms available for up to 20 years
All finance options are fully FCA regulated, giving you added confidence and peace of mind throughout your project. As finance products, rates, and eligibility can change, we recommend speaking with our team directly to discuss the most suitable option for your project and circumstances.
What happens if I change my mind?
We understand that committing to a home improvement project is a big decision. That’s why we offer a 14-day cooling-off period from the initial contract signature. If you decide not to proceed within this period, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Is a deposit required to start the project?
Yes — typically a deposit of 10% is required depending on the size and value of the project. This secures your project schedule, materials, and preparation work before construction begins.
